Admission:
The admissions approach encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply as long as they want to explore the M.A. in Psychoanalysis, applying it to their present career, or explore psychoanalysis as their profession. Additionally, interested people are encouraged to take a few classes either to improve their professional performance or to assess their willingness eventually to apply for full-time psychoanalytic training.
A bachelor’s degree is required for formal admission to both the Master’s Program and the Certificate Program. The application process involves the submission of an application form, a short essay, two recommendations, all transcripts, and an interview with a member of the Admissions Committee. Students must be in a personal training analysis by the second semester of coursework.
Students must have at least a master’s degree in order to apply for the second level of training, Level B, Consultation Center candidacy. Students completing the Master of Arts in Psychoanalysis at ACAP may apply for acceptance, with advanced standing, to the Certificate Program.
